Flight of the Monarch Event
November 9, 2023 @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Join us at the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve for a film and educational event made for adult and children.
Each year monarch butterflies stop by Apalachicola and other parts of the Panhandle on their 2000 mile fall migration to Central Mexico. Reserve staff goes out year after year tagging as many of these monarchs as they can in hopes to help the Monarch Watch Monarch Watch understand the dynamics of the fall migration through mark and recapture.
We will have 3 showings of “Flight of the Butterflies” film at 3:15, 4:15, and 5:15pm.
Tagging Demos with Nature walks and release of live Monarchs at 3:15, 3:45, 4:15, 4:45pm.
